

Overview of Role:Probabilistic Safety Assessors and Safety Case Authors are required by the Nuclear Clean Up Safety Team, to manage and deliver high quality technical work for clients in the nuclear operations/decommissioning/clean-up areas, primarily in Cumbria although successful candidates can have base in Cheshire or Cumbria
Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities for the role will be • the production of modern standard safety cases • the development of support files and documentation • the management of the production of safety documents to meet the clients requirements and standards • the reviewing and assessing of safety cases and related documentation to ensure they are fit for purpose for facilities, decommissioning and engineering projects. Other key duties will be to ensure and maintain an excellent working liaison with the client and regulatory bodies, and to support the Team Leader with building client relationships, identifying future opportunities, recommending solutions to clients, and providing project progress and cost updates
Essential Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, physics, mathematics or similar technical discipline
Experience Required: To have completed safety case author / verifier training with at least 5 years experience of authoring nuclear safety cases for the operation, decommissioning, or clean-up of nuclear plant or facilities handling nuclear materials. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the following:
• Probabilistic and Deterministic Analysis
• Engineering substantiation
• Hazard identification
• Fault Tree Analysis
• Derivation of Safety Functional Requirements
• Nuclear Licensing regulations
A working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation in an industrial or nuclear industry context would be desirable, as would civil nuclear experience or defence related nuclear experience in any of the main engineering or scientific disciplines.
Salary or Rate : Circa 45,000 - £55,000 p/a or Contract hourly rate £45 negotiable
