Scope of the work / day to day activities

You will be working alongside multiple teams to develop a framework for managing and controlling finance and budget transactions. This will involve creating a user-facing interface for administering and managing project and their budgets, developing a SQL database, and APIs and workflows for interactions between in-cloud and on-premises databases and finance systems.

This role will focus on developing the code to interface the budget management system with the HPC scheduling systems. Day to day activities will include writing, testing and documenting python applications to manage and control access to HPC resources and to automate the generation of regular reports. You will be participating in the team stand-up meetings, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.


Skills / qualifications

*Knowledge of the software development life cycle
*Minimum of 3 years of writing and developing large python applications
*Experience and knowledge of Azure Message Bus and Azure SDKs
*Good knowledge and experience working in a Linux environment
*Knowledge of using and querying SQL databases (MySQL)
*Experience of writing and developing REST APIs and transfer data between systems
*Awareness of automated testing tools and methodologies
*Experience with version control e.g. git
*Scripting experience such as BASH, Lua, and TCL
*Desirable: Programming in C
*Desirable: Experience in using Pandas
*Desirable: experience of HPC scheduling systems, in particular Slurm
*Desirable: experience of writing and developing HTML, CSS, JavaScript

Key objectives

1.Build and develop the python based applications to manage the flow of information between budget/finance systems in Azure and the systems managing the HPC schedulers.
2.Design and implement the mechanisms to verify availability of budget at the submission of HPC workloads to prevent budget overspend.
3.Design and build an application which will be able to gather cost and consumption data from Azure and which can be used to predict future costs.
