Job description
Key Deliverables
Conduct accessibility assessments and audits of digital services and products against WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
Provide independent accessibility assurance and expert advice to delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Produce clear audit reports, risk assessments and recommendations to support compliance and service improvement.
Support the resolution and prioritisation of accessibility defects and non-compliances.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the organisation's capability in accessibility.
Support the maintenance and publication of accessibility statements and associated compliance evidence.
Identify opportunities for increased automation and innovation within accessibility testing and assurance practices.
Desirable criteria:
-Experience working within UK Government or public sector digital services.
-Knowledge of the Government Digital Service (GDS) Service Standard and accessibility monitoring requirements.
-Experience using tools such as Axe, ARC Toolkit, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack.
-Relevant accessibility qualifications (IAAP CPACC, WAS, CPWA or equivalent).
Essential criteria:
-Demonstrable experience of digital accessibility testing, including manual testing, automated testing tools and assistive technologies across multiple browsers, devices and operating systems.
-Strong knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA and Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply these standards in assurance activities.
-Proven experience conducting accessibility audits, holistic accessibility reviews and assistive technology testing, producing clear findings and compliance reports.
-Experience supporting Agile delivery teams to embed accessibility requirements within acceptance criteria, quality assurance processes and testing approaches.
-Ability to identify, prioritise and communicate accessibility issues, working collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to develop pragmatic remediation plans.
-Experience producing, reviewing and supporting the publication of accessibility statements in line with regulatory requirements.
-Strong understanding of user-centred design and accessibility best practice, ensuring quality assurance activities reflect the needs of users with disabilities.
-Experience assessing accessibility assurance practices and recommending improvements to testing standards, frameworks and governance processes.
-Ability to identify opportunities to improve accessibility assurance through automation, emerging technologies and AI-enabled testing approaches.
-Experience using a range of accessibility testing and monitoring tools to assess accessibility compliance across complex digital estates.
