Overview - Cloud Security Architect
We are looking for an experienced Cloud Security Architect to lead the design and implementation of cloud security solutions for a large government programme. You will define security standards, ensure cloud environments remain secure, and support the transition into managed cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and maintain the overall cloud security architecture and framework.
* Design and implement cloud security controls and best practices.
* Ensure cloud solutions meet security, business, and compliance requirements.
* Conduct cloud security assessments and identify risks.
* Support the transition of services into managed operational support.
* Collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, and project teams.
* Evaluate emerging threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
* Drive the adoption of cloud security tools and technologies.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to security and delivery teams.
* Act as the security subject matter expert (SME) across the programme.
Essential Skills
* Strong experience as a Cloud Security Architect or Security Architect.
* Expertise in Cloud Security Planning.
* Experience designing and implementing Cloud Security Architecture.
* Strong understanding of Cloud Infrastructure Security.
* Experience conducting Cloud Security Assessments.
* Knowledge of Managed Cloud Security Services.
* Ability to lead technical discussions and influence stakeholders.
* Experience working across multiple teams and complex programmes.
Desirable Skills
* Experience within UK Government or highly regulated environments.
* Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud security services.
* Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, CAF, or CIS.
* Experience supporting cloud migrations and digital transformation programmes.
Ideal Candidate
A senior Cloud Security Architect who can define cloud security strategy, assess risks, design secure cloud environments, and provide technical leadership across a large government programme. They should be comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders and guiding teams on cloud security best practices.
