Job description
Our client is looking for a Data Engineer to join their team on a 12 month initial contract, working 3 days a week onsite in Sheffield and the rest from home. This role is Inside IR35.
Your responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines for ingestion into data warehouses and management information systems, translating business rules into scalable ETL processes.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy in reporting and analytics solutions.
* Engage in full software development lifecycle: from design and coding to testing, deployment, and documentation.
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Use key technologies: SQL, UNIX shell scripting, job scheduling (e.g., Control M), COBOL, DB2 , Mainframes
* Scripting and scheduling: Uuch as UNIX shell, PowerShell, and schedulers like Control-M or Airflow, and support DevOps practices using CI/CD tools.
* Soft skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, multi-tasking, and documentation skills
* ETL & database expertise: DataStage or Ab Initio; strong SQL proficient
