Job description
Software Developer Overview
* The Software Developer will design and develop highly available, scalable solutions supporting enterprise storage platforms within a global financial services environment.
* Develop in-house applications covering storage provisioning, monitoring, alerting, auditing, inventory and preventative maintenance.
* Work across software development, infrastructure automation, storage technologies and Linux environments while integrating solutions with third-party technologies.
* Collaborate with global technical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
Software Developer Responsibilities
* Design and develop scalable applications using Python and/or Perl.
* Develop tools for storage provisioning, monitoring, alerting, auditing and inventory management.
* Build solutions supporting problem management, capacity management and preventative maintenance.
* Integrate enterprise storage solutions with third-party technologies and platforms.
* Support storage virtualisation, automation and software-defined storage solutions.
* Follow SDLC best practices across large-scale software development projects.
* Troubleshoot issues across operating systems, networks, applications and storage infrastructure.
* Work with customers to understand requirements and articulate appropriate technical solutions.
* Contribute to infrastructure automation and observability initiatives.
Software Developer Skills and Experience
* Strong software development experience using Python and/or Perl.
* Proven experience applying SDLC best practices within large software development projects.
* Strong Computer Science fundamentals.
* Object-Oriented programming and SQL knowledge would be advantageous.
* Enterprise Linux experience, particularly RHEL, would be highly desirable.
* Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SCSI, NFS, CIFS, Object Storage, RAID and distributed storage would be advantageous.
* Understanding of storage virtualisation, provisioning, performance and capacity management.
* Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker or containerisation experience would be beneficial.
* AWS, Azure or Google Cloud experience would be advantageous.
* Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, networking and storage.
* Experience with NetApp, IBM Spectrum Scale, HDS, EMC, Brocade SAN or Veritas technologies would be beneficial.
* Strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills.
