Transition / Insourcing Programme Director - Remote - Outside IR35
Must have an active SC or NPPV3 Clearance
You will act as a trusted adviser, bringing structure, governance, and practical delivery leadership to complex environments where risk, knowledge retention, and operational readiness are key concerns.
Experience developing client-facing work packages that support business development activity and future engagement opportunities is essential.
Transition / Insourcing Programme Director Responsibilities
Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, account teams, and delivery leaders.
Assess transition readiness across people, process, technology, governance, tooling, and operational control.
Lead supplier exit planning, handover activities, and service transition programmes.
Manage risks relating to service continuity, knowledge transfer, operational readiness, and service ownership.
Support service mobilisation, demobilisation, and stabilisation activities.
Facilitate effective knowledge transfer through documentation, runbooks, playbooks, shadowing, and readiness validation.
Shape practical and fundable work packages aligned to client needs and outcomes.
Provide governance, reporting, risk management, and transition assurance.
Act as the bridge between clients, delivery teams, operational teams, and wider stakeholders.
Support future operating model development and service improvement initiatives.
Transition / Insourcing Programme Director Skills and Experience
Significant experience as a Programme Director, Transition Director, Transformation Director, or senior delivery leader.
Proven track record leading complex transition, insourcing, outsourcing, supplier exit, or service mobilisation programmes.
Strong understanding of service operations, managed services, governance, operational readiness, and ITIL environments.
Experience working across multiple suppliers, retained client teams, and delivery organisations.
Strong stakeholder management experience at executive, operational, and programme leadership levels.
Experience managing transition risks, dependencies, and service continuity challenges.
Proven experience developing and shaping client-facing work packages, Statements of Work, and funded support engagements.
Strong commercial awareness with a focus on outcome-based delivery.
Experience within public sector, defence, policing, government, secure services, or critical national infrastructure environments desirable.
