Data Center Engineer - Senior Engineer - 1 year assignment

The Data Center team is responsible for monitoring, maintaining and deploying the state of-the-art physical infrastructure for our customers core network and systems. As a Data Center Engineer, you'll deploy and maintain advanced Data Center and Network Infrastructure.

You lead larger installations, maintenance activities and develop project contingency plans for our customers, securing 100% network service availability. In this role, duties range from the physical deployment of data center-related technology to working closely with the various vendors, suppliers and stakeholders and your role is to ensure the projects are successfully delivered.

Activities:
* Manage, maintain and execute preventive maintenance on water pumps and
treatment systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control
monitoring systems.
* Respond to data center performance issues and outages, inspect, maintain and
repair various data center systems (power supply, piping, air conditioning,
heating/cooling, and non-critical electrical system components, etc), including On
Call services based on rotating schedule among the Data Center teams.
* Lead Data Center related projects and function as mentor for other colleagues of
the Data Center team
* Work together with Data Center team in order to develop and execute
environmental, mechanical and electrical performance testing to have more
comprehensive characterization of the efficiency of the data centers.
* Close follow-up, supervise and provide guidance of contractors, vendors and
supplier which are executing the work at the Data Centers review the work done on
site.
* Install, maintain and repair the cable infrastructures and fibre-optic networks, local
area networks; Structured Cabling and copper connectivity within the Data Centers
/ Be part of the Stand-by / On-Call schedule to support the 24hx7d schedule,
required approximately in 1 week out of 4.

Skills knowledge experience:
* Bachelor Degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or Computer
Science (Advanced degree preferred)
* 5+ years of industry experience in data center operations
* VCA process understanding
* Experience building data center site and room layouts, as-built documentation,
deep understanding of one-liners, floor plans and technical specifications
* Ability to create design specifications and requirements documentation of rack,
computer room, and data centers
* Advanced knowledge of Data Center Systems, HVAC, High Voltage and Low
Voltage switch boards, High Voltage Transformers, Chillers, Fire Alarms, Sprinkler
systems, water detection systems, UPS, Battery technologies, Generators, PDUs.
* Knowledge of data center site selection and data center lifecycle elements,
including server/rack deployment, operations, (preventive) maintenance,
provisioning, migrations and decommissioning
* Knowledge of data center and server management, instrumentation and monitoring
software
* Strong partnering and collaboration skills, ability to influence and impact teams
across the company, strong ability to make data-driven decisions collaboratively
* Ability to work on multiple complex projects (both domestic and international
project experience preferred)
* Ability to mentor junior engineers and act as technical lead on key projects
* Vendor management (coordinate subcontractor's activities, technically and
administratively)
* Project management skills
* Stand-by / On-Call support on 24x7, required approximately in 1 week out of 5.
* Driving license B
* Knowledge of MS-Office (Outlook, Word, Excel,…) and ticketing systems
* Good understanding of Health and Safety at Work and First Aid; Sufficient
understanding regulations, policies and procedures are advantageous
* Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.

Other Info
* Work location: Your work location will be mainly Brussels in Belgium and from time
to time in other data center locations in Gent and Brussels and sporadically in the
South of Belgium for remote locations. The main office is in Zaventem. The
workplace is mainly in the datacenter in Brussels
* Working Time: 40 hours per week
* PC and appropriate software and personal safety protection equipment will be
provided by client.
* You shall possess own craftsman toolbox.
* You shall have own mobile phone and own voice and data subscription. Mobile
phone shall be capable to take clear pictures to be used for uploading in the
databases.
* You shall be mobile to travel towards the datacenters in Belgium, by car and at own
cost for fuel and other costs. It shall be possible to transport spare parts in the trunk
of the car. A passenger car with a trunk in the back is sufficient.
* The person shall be 100% dedicated to this assignment, meaning he shall not have
other occupations that are making him not available when needed.
