The Role
As a Lead Software Developer, you will take technical ownership for the design and delivery of Python based software solutions focused on automation, integration and AI enabled capabilities. You will play a key role in guiding technical decisions, ensuring engineering quality, and supporting less experienced developers.

Your responsibilities:
Lead the design and development of Python based services supporting automation and integration.
Provide technical direction on how AI capabilities are applied within solutions.
Design and oversee system integrations, including API and service based architectures.
Take ownership of engineering quality, including code standards, testing and maintainability.
Mentor and guide other developers through reviews, pairing and technical support.
Work closely with DevOps and QA teams to ensure solutions are deployment ready and well supported.


Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Strong hands on experience delivering Python based software solutions.
* Proven experience leading or owning technical design and delivery.
* Experience building automation and integration heavy systems.
* Experience applying AI or ML capabilities within production software.
* Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and quality standards.
* Experience mentoring developers and providing technical leadership.
* Hands on experience working with AWS, including deploying and supporting applications or services in cloud environments
* Extensive experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
* Experience designing systems in cloud environments (Preferably AWS or Azure).
* Experience with event driven architectures.
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps ways of working.
* Experience working in public sector environments.
