The primary responsibility of a Solution Lead is to deliver a viable, fit-for-purpose solution that meets the needs of the client and is capable of being effectively managed in service.
The Technical Solution Lead will be the solution owner for the full lifecycle of a solution from feasibility to delivery. This will ensure the solution has continuity from an architectural and design perspective.
The Solution Lead is to be responsible for driving the architectural direction of all tasks allocated to them by a Programme or Principal Architect throughout the delivery lifecycle of the task.
They will also be required to perform Technical Assurance Reviews to ensure that the technical deliverables pertinent to the lifecycle phase are of sufficient quality that they are "fit for purpose" to deliver the goals of the task and to proceed through the associated phase gate.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the creation and implementation of end to end solution/technical design and ensuring alignment to the strategic technical architecture
Responsible for the ensure the solution/design process is adhered to by all SMEs
Responsible for leading technical SMEs to ensure:
o a full collaborative approach to design is guaranteed
o all areas of concern contribute to the design process from the earliest point
o Preparation of artefacts required as part of the architectural toolkit to ensure design governance has appropriate artefacts to be successful (with appropriate collaboration with other SMEs and overseen by SLC Architecture)
o The solution adheres to the principles defined within the Target Enterprise Architecture.
o The solution meets architectural goals that include usability, performance, security, reliability, maintainability, reuse, supportability and compatibility. In addition ensuring that the design meets the client's requirements.
Provide solution and technical SME input to appropriate levels where internal skills do not exist (e.g. when new technologies are being investigated)
Provide an escalation point for design related issues within projects
To work closely with security teams to ensure that security risks are fully identified and appropriate mitigations are delivered.
Ensure the project adheres to the agreed design lifecycle and that the correct design documentation is produced at each stage.

Essential:
1. Good understanding and knowledge of virtualisation platforms, VMware in particular
2. Good understanding and knowledge of VMware's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Zero clients
3. Good understanding of enterprise storage solutions
4. Good understanding of fundamental networking concepts and components
5. Implementation of private and hybrid cloud technologies based on the VMware platform and automation platforms such as vRealize
6. IT Security Solutions (Policy Based, Physical, Environment Hardening & Software) & Provisioning and Implementation)
7. Security monitoring platforms such as SEIM
8. Endpoint Management (Device Control, Data Protection, Application Control etc.)
9. Good understanding of Microsoft Infrastructure covering Windows Server 2012 / 2016 administration, Active Directory design , SCCM / SCOM deployment
10. Linux based OS Administration
11. Windows Client OS Windows 7 - Windows 10
12. Very good communication and written skills
13. Passionate about technology
14. A good understanding of, and competent working within, architectural frameworks such as TOGAF / MODAF

1. PRINCE 2
2. Management of Risk
3. Microsoft Project
4. Project Management
5. Archimate
6. TOGAF 9.1 Certification
7. Software Defined Networking and Cisco ACI deployment
8. Cloud architecture certification (e.g. AWS / Azure)
