We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Senor Network Engineer to join our client in Warrington, Cheshire.
Please note that due to the nature of the role active SC clearance is required.
The role holder will possess expertise in hybrid environments (on-prem, Azure, SASE).
The role holder will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of resilient network infrastructure that ensures optimal reliability, scalability, and performance.
Work Pattern : Hybrid (approx. 1 day per week, office / data centre based)
Location : Warrington
Working days: 5 days per week (Mon to Fri, 9am - 5pm)
Duration: 60 days with potential extensions
Rate: £65-£68 per hour inside IR35
Responsibilities:
Work across BAU operations and projects & programmes
Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
Configure and install software and network devices
Monitor network performance and integrity
Resolve support issues that have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
Communicate with users when needed
Maintain complete technical documentation
Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
Train and mentor other team members, to ensure cross-training / skilling Requirements & Skills
Experience:
5+ years of experience working within a large enterprise estate (5,000+ users)
Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP)
Solid background in network administration and architecture
In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP)
Familiarity with access control models and network security
Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g Python, Perl) is an advantage
Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds)
Solid understanding of network operating systems (Cisco NX-OS, IOS-XE)
Proven experience with Palo Alto firewalls (Panorama, PAN-OS, LSVPN)
F5 and Cisco Meraki skills and experience
Highly experienced troubleshooting skills
