
Job purpose:
The Associate Director of Digital Transformation is a crucial strategic role which has responsibility for ensuring the University's strategic portfolio of Digital Transformation is delivered according to KPIs and objectives to support the delivery of the Digital First Strategy.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Transformation, this is a senior management position with a broad range of responsibilities across strategic projects and programmes, which impact all areas of the institution. The post holder will ensure the change portfolio operates in a consistent, robust way using our Demand Management processes and Agile project delivery methodology. They will have responsibility for a team of delivery resources, including project managers, business analysts, product owners and technical resources, managing end to end processes from new requirements and demand, analysis, business case development and approval through to overseeing delivery of projects and programmes across the strategic portfolio.
The Associate Director will deputise for the Director as required and work closely with them to lead and manage roadmaps of change, as approved and overseen by the Digital Strategy Steering Group. They will seek opportunities to develop and grow the University's Digital Transformation capability, recruiting high calibre talent to provide project management, product management and business analysis functions.
Working closely with stakeholders at all levels of the University, they will champion our Digital First principles and act as a senior representative of the University's Digital First Strategy. They will also represent the University externally as required to ensure best practise and best practise expertise is provided.
Principal Accountabilities:
Direct the Digital Transformation portfolio of change day to day, ensuring all projects and programmes deliver to objectives and are managed via consistent methodology, reporting and governance
Lead on ensuring quality and consistency in change delivery across the University, utilising industry best practise and ensuring a culture of continuous and sustained excellence and improvement
Work with the Director of Digital Transformation to build, lead and manage the University's strategic change capability
Work with and influence senior stakeholders across the University to understand requirements and identify opportunities for strategic investment to support the University's Digital First and wider objectives, building business cases to support this
Recruit and source staffing and resources as required and within allocated budgets and approvals, briefing, inducting and performance managing them to build a stable, permanent yet adaptive and efficient function
Ensure a clear vision is communicated and championed across the Digital Transformation function, aligned with and supporting other strategies across the organisation - e.g. the University strategy, Estates strategy and People strategy
Develop and maintain effective long-term strategic relationships outside the immediate team, creating, leading and developing cross-functional networks and teams to support the University's strategic objectives[RF1]
Lead and manage a team of specialist resources
Support the Director in ensuring the Digital First Strategy is on track or ahead of its KPIs
Deputise for the Director of Digital Transformation as required, including at Boards and Committees across the University
Play a leading role across the University in providing strategic direction and contributing to roadmaps for product portfolios
Lead the development of a Digital Transformation community of practise, both in Agile project delivery, product management and business analysis
Build positive, collaborative relationships across the University to establish networks of expertise, enabling new requirements and demand to be identified and analysed consistently and to high quality
Train and educate the wider University community in our Digital Transformation portfolio, roadmap and objectives to ensure visibility and buy-in via briefings, demonstrations and roadshows
Represent the University and participate in relevant networks, both in the HE sector and in wider industries, ensuring experiences are shared and a diversity of opinion and expertise is sought

Represent the University to the outside world so as to further the University's interests and secure its wider objectives.

Discharge efficiently health and safety responsibilities.
Discharge duties in respect of the prevention, detection, reporting and investigation of fraud.
Such other responsibilities as determined by the line manager in consultation with the post holder from time to time.
