Hands-on DevOps Engineer who can help teams move microservices onto the new platform and support them through build, deployment, and ongoing operations. The role needs someone who understands how things work end-to-end - from code to production - and can work confidently across pipelines, infrastructure, and cloud environments.

What you'll do
* Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for real production services (not just PoCs or demo flows).
* Write and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including modules, multi-environment setups, and troubleshooting.
* Deploy and operate microservices on AWS using container services such as ECS/Fargate, with a good understanding of how services run in different environments.
* Work directly with delivery teams to support deployments, environment issues, and release readiness.
* Set up and support monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting so teams have clear visibility into their services.
* Help teams follow engineering principles - testing, automation, repeatability, and secure-by-default configurations.
* Work with AWS networking fundamentals (VPCs, lattice, subnets, routing, security groups) as part of day-to-day environment management.
* Troubleshoot pipeline failures, environment problems, and runtime issues, and communicate clearly about the root cause and fix.
* Contribute to shared tooling, reusable patterns, and templates so teams don't reinvent the wheel for each service.

What you bring
* Solid hands-on experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred).
* Strong practical knowledge of Terraform - able to write clean code, understand modules, and debug issues independently.
* Good experience working with AWS, including basic networking, IAM, container services, and environment setups.
* Comfortable with Docker and running workloads on container platforms such as ECS/Fargate.
* Experience supporting services beyond development - including testing, deployments, and production operations.
* Good understanding of monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, vFunction, Dynatrace etc.).
* Ability to work through problems methodically and explain your reasoning clearly.
* Experience working in multi-team environments where common tooling and patterns are shared across many services.
* A collaborative mindset - able to work with developers, platform teams, and SREs, and adapt as the platform evolves.

Nice to have
* Experience with event-driven systems or Kafka.
* Exposure to large-scale migration or modernisation programmes.
* Background in public sector or regulated environments.
Key Technologies
AWS, Gitlab runners, Terraform, Dynatrace, Grafana, Splunk, Prometheus.
