Main duties and accountabilities
1. Work with academic staff to enhance their digital skills and capabilities and support the
effective application of educational technologies within learning and teaching
environments
2. Provide higher level digital education advice covering the Virtual Learning Environment
and other teaching tools, emerging technologies and accessibility, and respond to
enquiries, including via consultations, workshops and participating in enquiry service
cover as required.
3. Design and deliver training programmes, workshops, seminars and support materials on
the use of virtual learning environments and associated learning technologies for
enhanced course delivery.
4. Support the Digital Skills Manager in cross-university project work, including key work on
meeting digital capabilities and accessibility standards and engaging with emerging
technologies.
5. Work collaboratively with academic course teams and faculty learning technologists in
the planning and development of engaging, interactive online learning practices and
content development
6. Work in collaboration with LR Teams to support the design and creation of high quality
and accessible digital learning content, exploring new technologies to enhance service
levels and ensuring evaluation and review procedures are in place
7. Work with IT Services and faculty learning technologists to coordinate the evaluation,
testing and upgrading of the University's virtual learning environments and associated
systems.
8. Monitor and maintain LR-managed hardware and software used to support digital skills
and education (e.g. 3D printer, VR equipment, accessibility tools).
9. Work with staff development, faculty and teaching staff to support the application of
sound pedagogic principles and inclusive quality standards for online learning and
educational technologies, according to Brookes' curriculum priorities.
10. Develop digital education content for LR web pages and provide accessibility guidance
to colleagues across the directorate
11. Monitor and evaluate innovative developments in learning and other digital technologies
and their creative application within higher education, making recommendations for
service improvements and supporting benchmarking and the evaluation of directorateservices.
12. Lead communities of practice with academics and professional services staff exploring
the cross-disciplinary learning affordances of emerging technologies, democratising
access where possible.
13. Engage with appropriate groups both internally and externally to the University, including
active participation in LR team meetings and working groups and relevant professional
networks and organisations.
14. Assist with the university's programme of recruitment, engagement and outreach events
and activities, including Open Days, as required. These may take place outside of your
normal working hours.
