The Role
The role involves leading OnPrem‑to‑Azure migrations using Azure Migrate, managing hybrid infrastructures across Azure Stack HCI and Hyper‑V, and delivering end‑to‑end virtualization solutions. It requires strong troubleshooting during cutovers, deep VMware expertise, and hands‑on experience integrating workloads into Azure's hybrid management, backup, and monitoring frameworks.
Your responsibilities:
* Azure Migrate & Migration Execution: Lead end‑to‑end VMware to Azure Migrate-based migration projects, including assessment, planning, replication, testing, and cutover activities.
* Execute migrations of large-scale VM estates from VMware environments to Azure Stack HCI, Azure Local, and Hyper‑V platforms.
* Perform detailed pre‑migration readiness checks, dependency mapping, and remediation planning.
* Provide hands‑on support during migration waves and cutover windows, ensuring minimal downtime and technical accuracy.
* Hyper V & Azure Stack HCI Operations: Configure and manage Hyper V environments, including VM creation, tuning, storage configuration, and checkpointing.
* Work with Windows Failover Clustering for high availability of applications and VMs.
* Design, implement, and validate HCI networking components (vSwitches, VLANs, IP schemes, physical NIC mapping, routing considerations).
* Linux Systems Administration: Support and troubleshoot Linux distributions such as RHEL and SUSE during migration, configuration, and stabilization phases.
* Validate OS level compatibility for migrations and perform required tuning post migration.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Strong hands‑on experience with VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere / ESXi / vCenter, vSAN storage technologies, Dell VxRail hyper‑converged infrastructure
* Proven ability to manage, configure, and troubleshoot VMware clusters in enterprise environments.
* Hands‑on experience using Azure Migrate for VMware-to-Azure migrations.
* Strong understanding of migration assessment, replication, testing, cutover execution, and post‑migration validation.
* Solid understanding of Hyper‑V VM configuration, storage, and networking.
* Strong understanding of HCI networking, including: vSwitch configuration, VLANs, IP planning and routing, NIC teaming / bonding
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
* Experience migrating large‑scale VMware estates using Azure Migrate automation and bulk migration workflows.
* Familiarity with Azure Arc-enabled Azure Local for hybrid governance and policy management.
* Knowledge of Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, and post‑migration optimization best practices.
* Experience with PowerShell, CLI scripting, or automation tools for migration efficiency.
* Understanding of network security, firewall rules, routing, and hybrid connectivity (VPN/ExpressRoute).
* Exposure to Azure Stack HCI cluster lifecycle management, firmware upgrades, and hardware validation.
* Certifications in VMware, Azure, Hyper‑V, or Linux Server management.
